who we are - what we do

Purpose

Formed in 2001, the main aim of the company from the outset has been to provide any small to medium sized business, such as yours, with a reliable, UK based, personal, yet economic, payroll service that requires the least burden on the business owner or manager for the greatest of benefit.

Payroll operation is recognised by most businesses as a time consuming, resource hungry, and costly process, carrying with it always the fear of penalty for incorrect compliance.

Outsourcing your payroll will free up your time and resources, leaving you to get on with what you do best – running the company for maximum returns.

Our processes are simple - just notify us of any changes which may affect your payroll, and we get on with the rest.

We handle payrolls from two employees, up to a maximum of 250 employees and currently manage 107 clients on a personal, yet professional, basis.  Apart from standard payroll, we also cater for CIS, and offer a range of reports to assist management where needed.

Maximum assistance will be given to clients to ensure they are all RTI compliant in time for the April 2013 deadlines.

We also handle personal tax returns (annual SA100’s), on a confidential basis, for individuals, directors and partnerships.

History

SME Payroll Services was originally formed in 2001 by Richard Cole who has had many years experience in payroll operations.  Stephen Askew and Richard Calderwood, both qualified accountants with payroll and bookkeeping skills and knowledge, joined forces with the company in 2006.  They brought with them a professional element and are expanding the ‘online’ bookkeeping and vat services and taxation services for small to medium sized businesses.
